The British driver Bill Ivy, a former motorcycle champion, made sensation for his debut in Formula 2 in 1969, when he qualified on the front row at Thruxton and then shine again on the twisty Nürburgring (pictures above and here-under in front the Tecno of François Cevert) and finally take a nice fifth place at Zolder.
He seemed destined for the greatest of futures when he sadly lost his life at the wheel of his Jawa 350 motorbike at the Sachsenring.
