Belgian Eric van de Poele, Modena Lamborghini F1 driver in 1991 recalls: “I very well remember these tests days that I really appreciated. The atmosphere in the paddock was very special with the silent and empty grandstands around us”.

“These private tests were important to try to improve the car, to find extra speed, because it was crucial in our time to pass the pré-qualifications. It was not an easy task and the week-end could stop there”.

“The test days were also a great opportunity for me to share my experiences in the world of Formula 1 with my friends and family, something that is not really possible during a Grand Prix week-end”.

“I always thought it was an immense privilege to be ‘part of the show’, and that I had to share all this with my loved ones, because I knew that it could not last. Unique and beautiful moments where I could really tell, explain and have the satisfaction to share the passion”.

“I will always remember another test day at Le Castellet, that ended at nightfall. I was living my dream for a last run with the sun going down, the scenery becoming red fluo, and this extraordinary image of me braking hard before every corner, and this same red reflecting inside my front wheels, and the same beautiful color appearing on my little dashboard, it was surreal”.

“I will never forget the feelings of passion, extreme joy of driving a Formula 1 car at the limit, with the beauty of the surrounding nature mixed with a very advanced automotive technology”.

“On top of that, I had the sound of the extraordinary Lambo V12 behind me, it was heaven. I must admit that I had tears of emotion in my eyes when I returned to the pits, enjoying this moments to the full. We did not win a Grand Prix with the Lamborghini, but it was an unbelievable experience”.
