Alessandro “Alex” Caffi, born 18 March 1964, is an Italian racing driver. He is a former Formula One driver, who participated in 75 Grand Prix between 1986 and 1991, for Arrows/Footwork, Dallara and Osella. He scored a total of six career points.

Caffi has also three participations in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with a best finish of sixth in 1999, in a Courage C52-Nissan. He currently serves as the team owner of NASCAR Euro Series team Alex Caffi Motorsport, occasionally doing owner-driver duties as well.

Picture below: Huge crash in practice at the 1991 Monaco Grand Prix, when Caffi trying hard to qualify for the race, aboard the uncompetitive Footwork FA12-Porsche, slid off line and into the barriers at the Swimming Pool series of corners. The impact was so heavy, the car broke in three. Luckily, Alex did not suffer any serious injuries.
