This particular Alfa Romeo 33TT8, had been modified for the 1975 ‘Giro de Italia’ and competed in Groupe 5 (picture above). It was fitted with an Alfa V8 engine, instead of the usual 12 cylinders.
A larger cockpit, a roof and lateral windows were fitted to the Sports Prototype, that usually competed in the World Endurance Championship. It was driven by the Italian Carlo Facetti and by Frenchman Jean-Claude Andruet.
Nevertheless, in the race, the beautiful Alfa could not resist the agile and powerful (3.5 Litres) Fiat-Abarth SE 031 (picture here-under) driven by Giorgio Pianta and Bruno Scabini who took a prestigious victory.
