A Ferrari trio at the 1967 Belgian Grand Prix held at Spa-Francorchamps consisted of Ludovico Scarfiotti, Mike Parkes and Chris Amon (picture-above). Only Amon saw the finishing line, that he crossed in third, behind winner Dan Gurney (Eagle-Weslake) and Jackie Stewart (BRM), while Scarfiotti retired.
Sadly, Mike Parkes had an horrendous crash on the first lap at the exit of Blanchimont after losing control of his Ferrari 312 on oil spilled from Stewart’s BRM; his car rolled a number of times and he was thrown out of it. Parkes was in a coma for a week, survived but his legs were severely broken and he never raced in F1 again.
