Youngest champ
Red Bull Racing won its maiden Constructors’ Championship in 2010 , with a 1-2 finish in Brazil, the one but last race of the season, while RBR’s Sebastian Vettel took the Drivers’ Championship, after winning the final race of the season in Abu Dhabi.
Indeed, on November 14, 2010, Sebastian Vettel, born 3 July 1987, won the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (picture above) and became the youngest winner, at 23 years of age, in the 61-year history of the championship, that started in 1950.
Vettel’s victory in the championship came after a dramatic season finale at Abu Dhabi, where three other drivers could also have taken the crown: Mark Webber (Vettel’s teammate at Red Bull), Fernando Alonso in his Ferrari and Lewis Hamilton for McLaren.
In the final standings, Vettel scored 256 points to 252 for Alonso, then Webber 242, and Hamilton 240 points. It was the beginning of a four-year domination for the precocious German driver.
