Australian Jack Brabham wins the French Grand Prix 1966, at the Reims-Gueux circuit, the first man to ever win a Formula One Grand Prix in a car of his own construction.
The 1959 and 1960 World Champion indeed won the race aboard his Brabham BT19-Repco with a 9 seconds advantage on the Ferrari of Mike Parkes .
It was Brabham’s eight Grand Prix victory and his first since the 1960 Portuguese Grand Prix, six years earlier. At the end of the year, the Australian was crowned 1966 F1 Drivers’ World Champion, his third title.
