In 1968, Jean Todt was a young apprentice driver and he was dreaming to make a career at the wheel of a race car. Unfortunately, his short experience in practice for the 1968 Spa 24 Hours ended with a serious crash in the R8 Gordini he was sharing with Jean-François Piot, and they had to withdraw…
The next year, the one that was kindly called “Jean-Jean” moved to the right seat next to Guy Chasseuil in a little NSU at the ‘Coupe des Alpes’ (picture here-under): it was the beginning of a faultless career, first as a co-driver in rallye, then as manager at Peugeot Sport, team principal at the Scuderia Ferrari and finally as President of the FIA!
