Helen Stewart was always the first one to congratulate her husband after a victory, such as seen on this picture, minutes after winning the 1968 German Grand Prix at the Nurburgring in atrocious conditions.
Jackie Stewart: “These were extreme conditions: when I passed someone, I was virtually driving blindly, and was just hoping it was going to end well.”
The race was held in extremely wet and foggy conditions, and Scottish driver Jackie Stewart, racing with a broken wrist (visible on the picture above), won the race by a margin of four minutes in what is widely considered to be one of the greatest victories in the history of Formula One.
