Innes Ireland, Stirling Moss, Graham Hill are in a relaxed mood at Watkins Glen, US Grand Prix, in 1961 (picture-above).

Innes Ireland was a British military officer, engineer, and excellent motor racing driver. He was a larger than life character who according to a rival team boss, “lived without sense, without an analyst and provoked astonishment and affection from everyone.”

He won the 1961 United States Grand Prix at Watkins Glen driving a Lotus-Climax. It was Colin Chapman’s Lotus team first ever Grand Prix victory, and it will remain the only victory for the nice Englishman.
