At the end of 1977, Porsche had decided to withdraw from the Group 5 (935) and Group 6 (936) sports car championships, a program spearheaded by Jacky Ickx, having put his F1 career on hold.
The Belgian driver then accepted rides on demand, as a mercenary of the circuits, such as on November 1st of that year: at the wheel of a big Ford Falcon, he won the prestigious Australian classic “Bathurst 1000” on the spectacular Mount Panorama circuit, alongside local star Allan Moffat.
Another remarkable and exotic line in a glorious record!
