Andrea de Adamich approaches the first left-hand corner at the wheel of his factory Alfa Romeo T33 Periscopica Spider during the 1967 Nürburgring 1000 km (photo above). The Italian driver and his teammates Teodoro Zeccoli and Nanni Galli finished in fifth place behind four Porsches.

Indeed, the Porsche 910s entered by Porsche System Engineering (the factory) were untouchable, dominating the event and taking the top four places in the following order: Schütz-Buzzetta (winners), Hawkins-Koch, Neerpach-Elford and Mitter-Bianchi.

Andrea de Adamich was a versatile Italian driver, who distinguished himself in endurance racing (especially driving Alfa Romeo) but also in Formula 1, when he finished fourth in the 1972 Spanish Grand Prix and the 1973 Belgian Grand Prix.

The Alfa Romeo T33 Periscopa Spider seen in endurance racing in 1967, here below at the Targa Florio, imagined by Carlo Chiti, was powered by a 2L V8 Alfa Romeo engine, that developed 266 hp.
