Last waltz
Teddy Pilette looks pensive beside his BRM P207, entered in the 1978 Aurora Formula One Championship round at Thruxton (open photo above to see it in full). In the race, the Belgian driver was forced to retire when the V12 engine powering his car gave out on lap 21.
The BRM P207 was a Formula One single-seater designed in 1977 by Len Terry for Louis Stanley’s Stanley-BRM team. It was driven, without much success because it was uncompetitive, in Grand Prix races by Larry Perkins, Teddy Pilette, Conny Andersson, and Guy Edwards.
After a series of disappointments in Formula 1, the team competed in the 1978 Aurora Formula 1 Championship, achieving two fourth-place finishes with Teddy Pilette at the wheel (picture below). These would be the last results for this once highly competitive team before Louis Stanley decided to withdraw it from competition altogether.
