Walter Wolf Racing is one of the few teams in Formula 1 history to win its very first race, when Jody Scheckter won the 1977 Argentinian Grand Prix in his Wolf WR1. Founded by Slovenian-Canadian businessman Walter Wolf, the team competed from 1977 to 1979, achieving three Grand Prix victories and a runner-up finish in the Drivers’ Championship in its debut year.

- 1977 Debut Season: The team entered F1 by taking over the assets of Frank Williams’ original team and Hesketh Racing. Using the Wolf WR1 designed by Harvey Postlethwaite, driver Jody Scheckter won the season-opening Argentine Grand Prix. Scheckter added wins in Monaco and Canada that year, finishing 2nd in the World Championship.
- Decline and Sale: After a successful 1977, the team’s performance faded as it struggled with the new “ground effect” era of car design. Following a winless 1979 season, Walter Wolf sold the team’s assets to the Fittipaldi brothers.
- Iconic Look: The cars were famous for their distinctive dark blue and gold livery featuring a stylized red “W” and a wolf logo.
