The factory Ferraris, all three of different models, are lined up before the start of the 1965 Nürburgring 1000 km. From left to right, photo above: Bandini/Vaccarella on the Ferrari Dino 166P no.31, then Surtees/Scarfiotti in a Ferrari 330 P2 no.1 and finally, Parkes/Guichet on the Ferrari 275 P2 no.2.

The race consisted of 44 laps of this majestic 22.810 km circuit, and Ferrari, the overwhelming favorite, dominated the event as neither the Porsche 904/8 of Bonnier/Rindt and 904/6 of Maglioli/Linge, nor the Ford GT40 of Amon/McLaren/Hill, could keep pace with the red cars.

Finally, it was the Ferrari 330 P2 of John Surtees and Ludovico Scarfiotti that prevailed ahead of the 275 P2 of Mike Parkes and Jean Guichet, while the Porsche 904/8 of Jo Bonnier and Jochen Rindt (photo below) finished third, on the same lap as the two leading Ferraris.
