Laguna Seca belongs to McLaren
Bruce McLaren and Denny Hulme, McLaren M8B-Chevrolet, monopolize the front row of the starting grid (photo above) of the Laguna Seca round of the 1969 Can-Am championship.
On the second row, we recognise Peter Revson’s white Lola T163-Chevrolet entered by the Robbins-Chefferies Racing Team and George Eaton’s red McLaren M12-Chevrolet, entered by George Eaton Racing.
This round at Laguna Seca was the ninth of eleven counting towards the 1969 Can-Am championship, and was officially called “the Monterey Castrol Grand Prix”.
Bruce McLaren won the 80-lap race ahead of Denny Hulme, and they finished the championship in that order, while in third position was Chuck Parsons, who had a great race at the wheel of his Lola T163-Chevrolet entered by Carl Haas.
