Three Mercedes-Benz W154s lined up at the front row of the 1939 Swiss Grand Prix held at the Bremgarten circuit on 20 August 1939 (pictured above). Rudolf Carracciola (#14) on pole, with next to him Manfred von Brauchitsch (#10) and Hermann Lang (#16).
The Bremgarten circuit near Bern was 7.28 km long and hosted the Swiss Grand Prix from 1933 to 1954. This fast circuit with its changeable surface and tree-lined roads was very dangerous, especially in the rain.
This 1939 edition, with the war so close, saw a Mercedes-Benz hat-trick with Hermann Lang (winner, picture-below), Rudolf Caracciolla 2nd and Manfred von Brauchitsch 3rd, far ahead of the Auto Unions.
