Bernard de Dryver
Bernard de Dryver (born 19 September 1952) sits in Jacky Ickx’s Ensign during a test at Zolder, prior to the 1978 Belgian Grand Prix. The Belgian will not succeed to qualify.
He entered two Belgian Formula One Grand Prix weekends in 1977 and 1978. In 1977, he entered a non-works March, but failed to make the grid. The following year, he entered this Ensign-Ford (picture above), with the same result.
He was a decent Formula 2 driver and raced a full season in the Aurora UK Formula One Championship in 1979, driving a Fittipaldi, scoring a number of podiums and finishing fourth in the championship.
Bernard de Dryver (what a nice name for a racing driver) also participated in the F1 Race of Champions in 1979, where he finished seventh in his Fittipaldi. Nine participations at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, with an excellent second place overall in the 1987, in a privately-entered Porsche 962.
