No luck at the Nurburgring

Benoit Claeys and myself drove down to the new Nürburgring circuit, situated just next to the legendary Nordschleife, for a three hours race of the BSOT Series. This interesting modern track, with it very long straight followed by technical fast and slow corners, has hosted the German Formula One Grand Prix.

We qualified our Radical SR3 in eighteenth position amid a field of ‘crazy’ Germans in their over-powered Porsches, who obviously knew the track so much better than we did, and amid some Norma, Ligier, Wolf and Westfield prototypes.

We steadily gained places in the race and we were in fifth when I passed the Radical to my teammate Benoit, for the last stint (picture above). Unfortunately, about 5 minutes from the end, when we were waiting for the checkered flag, he was forced to park the car with an electric gremlins. We were disappointed, for sure, but it was great fun anyhow and a super experience.
