Ayrton Senna da Silva (1960-1994) was a Brazilian racing driver who won the Formula One World Drivers’ Championship in 1988, 1990 and 1991. He is seen here-above in 1986 when he drove for JPS Team Lotus. During his career, Senna won 41 F1 Grand Prix and 65 pole positions, with the latter being the record until 2006.

Ayrton Senna: “Racing, competing it’s in my blood. It’s part of me, it’s part of my life; I have been doing it all my life and it stands out above everything else.”

Senna moved to Lotus-Renault beginning of 1985, and won six Grand Prix and fifteen pole positions over the next three seasons, establishing himself as the fastest driver around, before joining McLaren-Honda, where even more success was coming.

Incredible finish at the 1986 Spanish Grand Prix held at Jerez: 14 thousands of a second separates the winner Ayrton Senna (Lotus-Renault) and Nigel Mansell (Williams-Honda) on the finishing line.
