Oscar Larrauri
Oscar Larrauri (born in 1954) is a racing driver from Rosario in Argentina. He participated in 21 Formula One Grand Prix, all with the EuroBrun team, debuting at the 1988 Brazilian Grand Prix. Oscar, nicknamed “Poppy”, scored no championship points, only qualifying eight times, which was already a great achievement, in such a modest car and team.
The EuroBrun ER188-Cosworth, proved to be one of the slowest cars on the 1988 F1 grid. Larrauri’s best finish for the year was a 13th place in Mexico.
The Argentinian was also a very competent endurance driver, often seen in a Porsche 956 and 962 entered by Brun Motorsport, with whom he finished second at the 1986 24 Hours of Le Mans.
Without a F1 drive at the start of 1989, Oscar Larrauri only entered in the last five Grand Prix of the season, again with EuroBrun, though he failed to pre-qualify on each occasion and moved back into sports car racing.
