Jo Siffert was a Swiss racing driver. Affectionately called “Seppi” by his friends, he was an excellent driver, both in sports cars racing and in Formula 1.
In 1969, Siffert’s talents in the Porsche 908 and 917 earned him several major wins in Europe. In addition, Siffert was chosen by Porsche to help launch its CanAm development program, driving a powerful Porsche 917PA Spyder.
In F1, he had a solid 1969 season in a Rob Walker entered Lotus 49B, scoring two podium finishes at Monaco and Zandvoort. He won the 1968 British Grand Prix in a Rob Walker Lotus and the 1971 Austrian Grand Prix in a BRM.
