Sir Francis Owen Williams CBE (16 April 1942 – 28 November 2021) was a British businessman, motorsport executive and racing driver. From 1977 to 2020, Williams served as co-founder, team principal and co-owner of Williams in Formula One, winning nine World Constructors’ Championship titles between 1980 and 1997.
For the 1978 season, Patrick Head designed his first Williams car: the FW06. Frank Williams (picture-above) signed Australian Alan Jones. The team scored its first championship points at the South African Grand Prix when Jones finished fourth. A new era started at Williams Grand Prix.
