Elio de Angelis

Elio de Angelis (26 March 1958 – 15 May 1986) was an Italian racing driver who competed in Formula 1 between 1979 and 1986, racing for the Shadow, Lotus and Brabham teams.

He sadly was killed in an accident while testing the Brabham BT55 at the Paul Ricard circuit, in 1986.

De Angelis was a very good driver, an excellent pianist and he was very popular in the Formula 1 community, always referred as a true gentleman.

He entered 109 Grand Prix, won the 1982 Austrian Grand Prix and the 1985 San Marino Grand Prix, 9 podiums and 3 pole positions.
