Three top teams battled for the lead during the 1973 24 Hours of Daytona. The Brumos Porsche Carrera RSR #59, driven by Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood, is ahead, pictured above, of the Penske Racing midnight blue #6 Carrera RSR driven by Mark Donohue and George Follmer, and the green Kremer Racing #54 Porsche 911S driven by John Fitzpatrick, Erwin Kremer and Paul Keller.
Ultimately, it was Peter Gregg and Hurley Haywood (Brumos Porsche, photo below) who emerged victorious, finishing 22 laps ahead of the NART Ferrari 365 GTB/4 driven by Migault-Minter. The Kremer 911S finished in sixth place, while the attractive Sunoco-livered Penske RSR of Donohue and Follmer was forced to retire after 405 laps with a broken engine.
