The McLaren team continues its progress to the top in 2021. Speaking of the squad’s new driver pairing, McLaren Team Principal Andreas Seidl called the Daniel Ricciardo-Lando Norris partnership “one of the most competitive driver line-ups in the sport,” adding “the entire team has worked very hard with our colleagues from Mercedes-AMG, to produce the MCL35M and provide a strong car for our drivers to race this year.”
Former F1 star and 13-time Grand Prix winner, David Coulthard believes Lando Norris is set for a “difficult time” this year with new team mate Daniel Ricciardo, but insists the challenge facing the young gun is also an opportunity.
DC: “This a great test for Lando because in Carlos (Sainz) he had a quick team-mate with whom he got along well, and both pushed the team forward. With Daniel, who is easy-going off track but who is ruthless and super fast on it and is a real racer, which we saw against Verstappen and Vettel; it will be difficult for Lando, but it’s also a great opportunity for him to step up and show he can get his elbows out.”
For us, no doubt this pairing is one of the most exciting one of the 2021 season. Ricciardo will perform at the highest level, and the MCL35M is a good car (picture below), as seen at the Bahrein test, so good results will follow. And Norris, will no doubt, further raise his game, and confirm the star qualities we saw in him during the past seasons.
