During the final round of the Super Vee Trophy held at Montlhéry (France) in 1971, Belgian driver Willy Braillard loses control of his Fuchs and ends his slide under the guard rails up high over the banking (picture above).

Willy Braillard recalls: “When I saw Grosjean’s accident in front of my telly, I thought of all the drivers who, during the period I raced, did not have the same luck. As for me, I was very lucky indeed that day at Montlhéry: A gear jumps at the chicane, I lose control, the car spins furiously towards the upper side of the banking. Luckily, one of my front wheels touches a post and the car pivots under the rail…  stopped by the roll bar but with the steering wheel and the dashboard snatched. I succeed to come out of the car with just a scratch on the hand. It could have been so much worse. My guarding angel did a good job that day!”
