Here we are in the ancient paddock of the Nürburgring before practice for the 1964 German Grand Prix: Dutch nobleman Karel Pieter Antoni Jan Hubertus Godin de Beaufort, Lord of Maarn, prepares to tackle the green hell of the Nordschleife, at the wheel of his pretty privately-entered Porsche 718, in the colours of his own team Écurie Maarsbergen.
Sadly, the aristocrat will not return after a violent crash at Bergwerk (picture here-under). He had taken 28 starts in Formula 1 since 1957 in a Maserati and then in a Porsche.
