Suzuki’s last F1 start
Aguri Suzuki made his final Formula 1 start at the wheel of his Ligier JS41 – Mugen Honda, on October 22, 1995 at the Pacific Grand Prix held on the TI Aida circuit.
Martin Brundle, who had driven one of the two Ligiers since the tenth round of the season, gave up his seat to Aguri Suzuki, in accordance with the agreement that they would share it for the entire season.
Here at the Aida circuit, the Ligier-Mugen Hondas qualified in ninth (Panis) and thirteenth position (Suzuki), but struggled in the race, the Frenchman finishing eighth, two laps behind the winner Michael Schumacher (Benetton B195-Renault), while Suzuki’s F1 career ended on lap ten, when the Japanese ended up in the gravel trap after a spin.
Aguri Suzuki made 65 starts for Larrousse, Zakspeed, Footwork, Jordan, and Ligier, reached the podium once, and scored a total of eight championship points. He also finished third in the 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans in a Nissan (photo below).
