Snow on the track

Jacques Villeneuve, like a true Canadian who isn’t afraid of the snow, seems to be waiting for the right moment, in early 1996, to finally take to the track behind the wheel of his new Williams FW18-Renault. This seasonal photo is a good excuse to wish our community of enthusiasts (we’re already 22,000 strong) an excellent 2026!

Villeneuve was indeed signed by Williams for the 1996 Formula 1 season, secured pole position for his first Grand Prix in Australia – he was only the third driver after Andretti and Reutemann to achieve this feat – won four Grand Prix and became the first rookie in history to finish second in the world championship, and only lost the drivers’ title to his teammate Damon Hill.
