Rookie of the Year

Formula 1 fans have chosen Lando Norris, a McLaren driver, as the Rookie of the 2019 season.

2019 witnessed the top three finishers from the 2018 Formula 2 Series all making the jump up to F1, with Russell, Norris and Albon graduating to race seats with Williams, McLaren and Toro Rosso respectively.

All three drivers performed brilliantly in their maiden season, with Albon earning a mid-year promotion to Red Bull Racing, Norris putting some impressive performances at the head of the midfield in a much improved McLaren, while Russell stoically campaigned at the back of the field, outperforming his highly rated team mate Kubica and occasionally out-driving his recalcitrant Williams.

It was a great year for Formula 1 fans who could witness the rise of three future stars. The three of them deserve the title of ‘Rookie of the Year’, but Lando Norris’ choice is just perfect.
