After being a test driver in F1 for Jaguar in 2000, and having a successful career in the Japanese Super Formula and in endurance racing, André Lotterer, three times winner of the Le Mans 24 Hours with Audi, wanted to participate in at least one Grand Prix in his career.
He succeeded to do so, by convincing Colin Kolles then manager of the British team, at the Belgian Grand Prix 2014, driving a Caterham-Renault, and he superbly out-qualified his team-mate Ericsson by 1 sec.
He then returned to endurance racing.
Mission accomplished, and his dream realized.
