Damon Hill, above at the wheel of his Williams-Renault FW 17, doesn’t hesitate to resolutely take the kerbs during the 1995 Monaco Grand Prix. A fine performance from the Briton who took pole position ahead of Michael Schumacher (Benetton-Renault).

The German champion nevertheless dominated the race and won it with a 30-second lead over Hill, who had not regained the performance seen during qualifying.

The 1995 season started well for Damon Hill with a pole in Brazil followed by two consecutive victories, but Michael Schumacher subsequently won seven of the next twelve races and took a second world crown as Benetton won the constructors’ championship.

Damon Hill once again finished second in the drivers’ championship with four wins and seven pole positions, and was determined not to let his chance slip away again in 1996.
