Luxury replacement
At the end of 1983, Stefan Johansson was not retained by Spirit and did not participate in the start of the 1984 Formula 1 season. He finally joined Tyrrell for the British Grand Prix held at Brands Hatch, the tenth round of the season, replacing the injured Martin Brundle.
Johansson then moved to Toleman for the final Grand Prix of the 1984 season in place of Johnny Cecotto, who was also injured, and finished a good fourth at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza (photo above). It should be noted that his teammate at Toleman was none other than the future triple world champion, Ayrton Senna.
