Larrousse tries F1
Gérard Larrousse in his Scuderia Finotto Brabham BT42-Ford, seems determined to qualify well for the 1974 Belgian Formula One Grand Prix held at the Nivelles-Baulers circuit. The French endurance ace qualifies in 28th amongst 31 starters, but retired with a deflated tyre on lap 53. He will participate in two F1 Grand Prix only, in Belgium and in France, but failed to score any championship point.
Gérard Larrousse (born 23 May 1940) is a former sports car racing, rallye and Formula One driver from France. He won countless endurance races in the late 60s and early 70s and his greatest success as a driver was winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1973 and 1974, driving a Matra MS 670 (with Henri Pescarolo).
After the end of his career as racing car driver, he continued to be involved in Formula One as a team manager for Renault. He later founded and ran his own Formula One team, Larrousse, from 1987 to 1994. Picture-below: Philippe Alliot in the Larrousse LH93-Lamborghini in 1993.
