In 1979, Jacky Ickx won 5 of 10 races of the Can-Am series, driving a Carl Haas entered Lola T333CS. Haas was the importer of Lola for North America. Amongst the races won by the Belgian was one held at Watkins Glen (picture-above).
The car was based on the F5000 Lola T332, which explains the central position of the driver in this bodied single-seater. Ickx (picture below) was crowned Can-Am champion at the end of the season, like his predecessors Patrick Tambay (1977) and Alan Jones (1978), in what was basically the same car.
