Start of the 1965 Nürburgring 1000 km. Photo above: The Iso Grifo A3C No. 17 entered by Prototipi Bizzarini for Noblet/Einbsiedel (retired, out of fuel) and the Ferrari 250 GTO #4115GT No. 61 driven by Lindermann/Ramminger (23rd), are ready to start.
The factory Ferraris dominated the event. John Surtees and Ludovico Scarfiotti won after 44 laps in their Ferrari 330 P2, 45 seconds ahead of the 275 P2 driven by Mike Parkes and Jean Guichet, while the factory Porsche 904/8 of Jo Bonnier and Jochen Rindt finished third, on the same lap.
Of note was the seventh place finish of the impressive Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe entered by Alan Mann Racing for Bob Bondurant and Jochen Neerpach (photo below).
