The 46th Targa Florio took place on 6 May 1962, on the Circuito Piccolo delle Madonie, in Sicily, Italy. Ferrari dominated the race and placed two of its works cars first and second, with a Porsche finishing third.

Picture above: Olivier Gendebien, in the #150 Ferrari Dino 268 SP during practice for the 1962 Targa Florio. This car will not start the race, and Gendebien will join Rodriguez and Mairesse in the sister Dino 268 #152. Seeing these sports prototypes on open roads, in the mountains and through the villages of Sicily, must have been awesome.

Ferrari dominated most of the 1962 edition, with a double victory for the cars entered by the famous Scuderia, and with two privateers finishing fourth and fifth. Winners were thus Belgians Willy Mairesse and Olivier Gendebien, partnered with Mexican teenage sensation Ricardo Rodriguez (picture below).
