The first quiet moment. Rinus VeeKay had to sit down and reflect on not only becoming an NTT IndyCar Series race winner, but on having done it at the most prestigious place, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. (picture-above taken on 15 May 2021).

Rinus van Kalmthout, born 11 September 2000, is a Dutch racing driver. Since 2017, he’s active in the United States under the name Rinus Veekay (much easier to pronounce for the Americans), where he first won the 2018 Pro Mazda Championship with 7 victories.

In 2019, Rinus moved up to the Indy Light Series with Juncos Racing and confirmed his great potential. He won six races, en route for second place in the final standings. Ed Carpenter noticed the young Dutchman, and signed him to drive his No.21 Dallara-Chevrolet in IndyCar, in a long-term deal.

VeeKay achieved his first top 5 finish in IndyCar at the 2020 IndyGP, and his first podium in the 2020 Harvest GP two months later and was confirmed for a return to ECR in 2021. He then confirmed all the qualities seen in him and won the IndyGP (picture below), on the Indianapolis Road Course, beating second-placed F1 refugee Romain Grosjean, by 5 seconds. A great career awaits Rinus Veekay in the IndyCar Series.
