The Ferrari 365 P2 chassis 0838, entered by NART and driven by Pedro Rodriguez and Jean Guichet, is on its way, photo above, to victory at the 1965 12 Hours of Reims.
The race was marked by a large number of retirements, often due to gearbox problems among many favorites, and by the accident of Belgian driver Gérald Langlois van Ophem, who, at the wheel of his Ferrari 250 LM, went off the track around midnight, hitting a track marshal and a firefighter, who unfortunately succumbed to their injuries.
At the end of the 12-hour race, four Ferraris were in the top four places: the two 365 P2s of Rodriguez/Guichet (photo below, crossing the finish line) and Surtees/Parkes in second, followed by the 250 LMs of Mairesse/”Beurlys” and Piper/Attwood.
