The 2006 Turkish Grand Prix held at the Istanbul Park circuit was the fourteenth round of the 2006 season. Felipe Massa, driving for the Ferrari team alongside Michael Schumacher, took his first pole position, and then, on Sunday,  his first Grand Prix victory. The Brazilian, impressive since the beginning of the season, by regularly equalling his illustrious teammate’s speed, really mastered this challenging track.

Fernando Alonso, who drove for Renault and was leading the championship, finished the race in second position and Massa’s teammate Michael Schumacher claimed the final position on the podium.

Massa followed that first win in Turkey with another emotional win in his home race at Interlagos in Brazil, and he finished the season in third, a position that greatly helped Ferrari secure the Constructors’ Championship, while Fernando Alonso (Renault) took his second drivers’ title in a row.
