Beautiful picture here-above of Roland Ratzenberger, in the Simtek S941, at Imola on the 30th of April 1994, doing what he loved: driving racing cars. That’s the way we want to remember him.

Roland Ratzenberger (1960-1994) was a Austrian racing driver born in Salzburg, who competed in three Grand Prix in 1994. Ratzenberger made his Formula One debut at the 1994 Brazilian Grand Prix with Simtek, bur failed to qualify. He made his only Grand Prix start at the subsequent Pacific Grand Prix, finishing 11th after starting 26th.

Sadly, during qualifying for the San Marino Grand Prix at Imola, Ratzenberger died as a result of a skull fracture sustained at the Villeneuve Curva, when he hit a concrete barrier at 225 km/h in his Simtek S941. He was the first fatality in the F1 since Riccardo Paletti in 1982.
