Alonso does it always twice
Fernando Alonso, born 29 July 1981, turned 40. Very motivated, he declared: “40 is just a number, I feel as fit and sharp as I was at 20.” And we can believe him, Fernando is a warrior and we’ll surely enjoy his presence at the highest levels of motorsport for a while.
On this day, as he reaches twice 20 years of age, I notice a funny coincidence: Alonso seems to always do things twice in his career.
He is twice a Formula One World Champion (2005-2006) with Renault (picture above). He won the 24 Hours of Le Mans as well as the FIA World Endurance Championship twice with Toyota, both in 2018 and 2019.
The Spaniard drove for the Renault F1 team… twice, first from 2002 to 2006 and then he returned to the French team in 2008. Granted his move beginning of 2021 to Alpine could be counted as a third time in was is basically the same team. He was also a McLaren driver… twice: first in 2007 and then returned to Woking from 2015-2019.
Finally, Alonso tried his luck at the Indianapolis 500 so far… twice! (picture below in 2017). We could imagine a very unlikely second stint at Ferrari, but with Fernando, you never know!
