Thierry Boutsen and Marc Duez, two talented and promising young Belgian drivers, pose for the photographer’s lens at Spa-Francorchamps in 1980.

In 1980, Boutsen was a Marlboro-sponsored frontrunner and a multiple race winner in the F3 (picture below) and was soon to become a works March-BMW driver in Formula 2, a category where he’ll spend two seasons, before making his debut in F1 with Arrows in 1983.

Duez was a Belga-sponsored Formula Ford driver, winning races before progressing to the F3, while pursuing a very successful career in rally racing, that will lead him to even compete in the rally world championship.
