The 1975 German Grand Prix was held at the 22.8-kilometre Nürburgring circuit on 3 August 1975.The race was won by Argentinian Carlos Reutemann driving a Brabham BT44B, his first win of the season. Reutemann won by a massive 1 minute and 37 seconds over the Williams FW04 of French driver Jacques Laffite.

I am often asked: what is it that I love so much about motor racing in general and Formula 1 in particular. Matt Bishop, Aston Martin F1 chief of communications, recently tweeted the following answer, and it sums up perfectly how I also feel about it and my motivation to comment a picture on a daily basis in The Human Side of Racing.

Matt Bishop: “If I had to choose just one pic to sum up all I love about Formula 1, this Rainer Schlegelmilch beauty is it. Mega driver (Carlos Reutemann, mega car (Brabham BT44B), mega circuit (Nürburgring), and victory for the great Argentinian. I could look at it all day and that’s been the case for 47 years.”

Thanks Matt, couldn’t have expressed it better, and thanks Rainer W. Schlegelmilch for these magical pictures, that never cease to amaze us, even decades later.
