Jumping Cevert

In 1969 François Cevert participated in his first F1 Grand Prix in this F2 Tecno on the difficult Nürburgring track, a great opportunity to fly over the famous hills, four wheels in the air, at Flugplatz or Pflanzgarten.

Sixteenth on the grid, Cevert was second fastest of the F2 cars, behind the Matra of Johnny Servoz-Gavin, but was forced to retire on the 9th lap of the race.

21 cars started the race, 8 of them where Formula 2 cars. The first F2 car at the finish was the Matra of Henri Pescarolo (picture below), who finished 8th, albeit 8 minutes and 11 seconds behind the winner Jacky Ickx in a Brabham, …which meant nearly one lap of 22 km behind!
