Clay Regazzoni and Niki Lauda were team mates at Ferrari during three seasons, from 1974 to 1976. The Swiss finished runner-up to Emerson Fittipaldi in 1974, and Lauda finished 4th in the standings in their first year together, but then Lauda’s determination, speed and commitment, took the upper hand on the laid back attitude of Regazzoni.

They got along well, but were so different in their approach to racing : “I was just racing day by day,” said Regazzoni. “With Niki (Lauda), every race the focus was to be on top. He programmed his life to be champion. I enjoyed life. That was the maximum for me. Carpe diem.”

A great character, Clay Regazzoni.
