6 World Formula One World titles and 83 Grand Prix victories for Lewis Hamilton is a fantastic achievement. He is already considered as one of the greatest drivers of all times, but is he the greatest ?

Actually, it’s not a relevant question. How can you compare Clark, Senna and Schumacher, Fangio and Hamilton, Stewart and Hakkinen, Brabham and Piquet, Vettel and Mansell, Prost, Moss or Villeneuve, Alonso or Lauda ?

Impossible and a waste of time, these were different era’s, different challenges, different dangers also.

You have noticed that in the drivers I have mentioned here above, some have proven greatness beyond belief without even being crowned F1 World Champions.

Will Lewis Hamilton beat Michael Schumacher’s records ? It’s very likely. Lewis seems to enjoy driving at the highest level, and will do so for another year or two minimum. With 20 races + on the calendar and Mercedes reliability and perfection, the odds are that he will.

But we should let the champion express himself on this subject : “I’ve always said that reaching Michael was never a target for me… I definitely had thought that getting anywhere near Michael was just so far-fetched. Now it seems so close, Yet it is so far away that I can’t really comprehend.”

One thing is sure, Lewis Hamilton absolutely belongs to the all times greats.
