Watkins Glen 1969.

Ferrari fielded one car only under the NART banner, its American road cars importer, for Mexican star Pedro Rodriguez (photo).

The 108-lap race was won by Lotus driver Jochen Rindt after he started from pole position.

It was the first Grand Prix victory for the Austrian, a well deserved victory after he led in five of the last nine races.

Piers Courage finished second for the Brabham team and BRM driver John Surtees completed the podium.

Pedro Rodriguez was classified 5th albeit 7 laps from the winner.
