Le Mans colors
The very pretty North American Racing Team (NART) Ferrari 512M of Sam Posey and Tony Adamowicz (picture above), in the afternoon light, on its way to a fine 3rd place in the 1971 Le Mans 24 Hours. Victory went to the Porsche 917K of Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep (read preceding articles).
Sam Posey (born 1944) is an American former racing driver and sports broadcast journalist. He entered two US Formula One Grand Prix in 1971 and 1972. Eclectic, he also finished fifth in the 1972 Indianapolis 500 driving an Eagle, and won the 1975 12 Hours of Sebring, teaming up with Brian Redman, Hans-Joachim Stück and Allan Moffat.
As an endurance racer, Sam Posey also appeared at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 10 times (1966, 1969-1973, and 1975-1978) and finished in the top 10 five times. His best finish was this third place in 1971 in a Ferrari 512M (picture below).
